Its been a fast paced two weeks in Cannes even though it seems as though everything dragged from the general demeanor of the city. Luggage is being loaded and shipped and then in a matter of 24 hours I'm off to the bigger city. Not really going to miss the food (last night we had purée chicken topped with a cheesy milky sauce) however, JC and I have made the most of it with Tapatio sauce and outlandishly absurd humor that really shouldn't be as funny as we make it out to be.
We visited the Fondation Maeght Museum with much by Matisse and Bronnard. There was a great piece that was an entirely blank canvas with the lighest etching of a bottle of vinegar and a pear. It reminded me of John Cage's 4'33'' and its "purposely play" which is said to be an "affirmation of life - not an attempt to bring order out of chaos, nor to suggest improvements in creation, but simply to wake up to the very life we are living, which is so excellent once one gets one's mind and desires out of the way and lets it act of its own accord."
Superb theory, I'm off.

In the Park with Alicia
This is also another nice place to properly communicate with the information age. It's a lot prettier than the cyber cafe and also completely free. Its cloudy today. And I finished "The Shop On Main Street." Turns out the innoncent hands of the carpenter get soiled. But what can you expect, it was during the Nazi occupation.
This park doesn't allow me to upload photos so they'll be coming later.

Cyber Cafe Cannes
I've been trying to finish reading "The Shop on Main Street" at a cafe overlooking the Mediterrean. The story is good for what basic framework of a plot I can grasp. Much has been lost in the translation and the translator uses slang from an array of time periods and cultures. The translator leaves many cultural symbols to be assumed. In Paris I'm taking a French Novels class that focuses on translations.
Jamie has a card adapter that I'm going to use to recover the pictures I almost lost of London, hopefully it will work. If not - the card will be promptly reformatted and I'll start taking digital pictures again. On that note, I've dusted off the Canon AE-1. As far as 35MM pictures go, I'm focusing on rather dull/still subjects contrasted with the opportune flight of a bird or passing of a bicycler.
Last night we went to Morrison's Lounge where there was a great live DJ. He played the Knife and "Everybody Dance Now" which was an exciting appropriation of what I expected European Discos to play. I had my first red beer which was enjoyable, like a cider only thicker.
